WORKSHOPS

Stay tuned for upcoming film production workshops!

The FEIO film production helped me to understand the importance of communication, experience, and teamwork. It also helped me to feel more comfortable making my place in the creative industry. The people working with us were so warm and ready to teach us in a way that helped us feel independent to create our own ideas while following the guidance of the instructors.Alex Robey2022 Workshop Participant

The workshop personally affected my spark of creativity. If you are trying to decide whether or not you want to apply for the FEIO workshop in the future, do it! You could take this workshop a hundred times in a row and still learn something new every time. I hope to be a part of the FEIO Film Workshop again next year and encourage everyone else to join in the amazing experience.Rachel Purget2022 Workshop Participant

Before coming to the workshop I knew very little about working as a film crew member. Afterward, I am far better equipped to work in the film industry. I learned about set etiquette and how to use and understand radio communication amongst departments. I learned not only about the department that I was in but also how other departments work together and operate on set. I feel so much more equipped to work on a film set with the knowledge that I gained in this workshop.Rachel Gorley2022 Workshop Participant

I have a career in Oklahoma film because of this workshop.Jen Pierce2021 Workshop Participant

My experience was eye-opening in the best way. By the time we had wrapped our week on set, I felt like I was walking away with years of knowledge.Lauden Baker2021 Workshop Participant

Meridian tech | RAIN MAN (1988)

Film Education Institute of Oklahoma partnered with Meridian Technology Center’s First Capital Film Crew Institute to bring a hands-on film production workshop to individuals interested in pursuing a career in the film industry from September 23 to 24 at Meridian’s South Campus in Guthrie.

The FEIO workshops are designed to provide students with an understanding of the requirements and rigors of filmmaking, as well as the experience of completing a project.

Participants enjoyed an up-close look at how Hollywood filmed the Oscar-award-winning movie Rain Man (1988), starring Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise while recreating a classic scene filmed in Guthrie.

In just two days, participants gained industry-level experience and practical, on-set training in roles and departments such as production, art, camera, costumes, continuity, electric, grip, hair, makeup, props, and sound.
